All models of our timecode generators SYNC E mk1 / SYNC E mk2 / ORIGINAL have a microphone built-in.
This microphone is only enabled, when you connect the timecode generator to 3.5 mm Mic input on a camera with Plugin Power supply. Otherwise, the internal mic of the Tentacle device doesn't receive the necessary voltage and is therefore inoperative.
You cannot disable or mute the built-in mic itself, but you can prevent it from getting enabled by the following steps:
- Check your camera's manual, if you can disable the mic input's Plugin Power
- Go the camera's menu and disable Plugin Power for the 3.5 mm Mic input
This way the mic of the Tentacle doesn't get powered and is muted, while the timecode generator will still output timecode and send it to the left channel of your camera.
Note:
Some cameras only have one microphone input (3.5 mm). If you connect the Tentacle timecode generator to it, the camera's internal scratch mic will automatically be disabled. When you decide to mute the Tentacle's mic as well, you might not have the opportunity for an on-board sound on your camera.
