The Sound Devices Scorpio is a very common audio recorder, so here are the options on a workflow with Tentacle.
Tentacle as a Timecode Source:
- Set audio recorder and Tentacle device to the same frame rate
- Synchronize your Tentacle, so it's outputting timecode (blinking green)
- Set your Output Volume > Line
- Set the timecode menu of the Sound Devices recorder:
- If you leave the Tentacle connected with your recorder all the times select > Ext-TC/Cont.
- If you jam-sync your recorder select > Free Run Jam Once
- Connect your Tentacle device to the TC connector of the Sound Devices recorder on the right panel
- Use this adapter cable Tentacle to LEMO 5-pin cable
Sound Devices recorder as a Timecode Source:
- Set audio recorder and Tentacle device to the same frame rate
- Start your Tentacle device, so it's ready to receive external timecode (blinking red)
- Set the timecode menu of the Sound Devices recorder:
- Mode > Free Run
- Timecode/Sync > Set Generator TC to choose your TC value
- Connect your Tentacle to the TC port of the Sound Devices recorder
- Use this cable LEMO to Tentacle cable
- keep the Tentacle connected until it starts blinking green
