The SYNC E mk2 (firmware version 1.2.1 or later) and the TIMEBAR (firmware version 1.1.0 or later) can output MIDI Timecode (MTC) via USB.
Step 1: Enable MIDI Timecode in Device Settings
- Open the Tentacle Setup App.
- Connect to your Tentacle device.
- Verify that the "MIDI Timecode" switch is enabled in the device settings.
Step 2: Connect the Device to Your Computer
- Use a USB cable to connect your device to the computer.
- The device will be recognized as a MIDI device.
- Since MIDI is an open standard, no additional drivers are required.
Step 3: Configure Your DAW (Digital Audio Workstation)
You can now use the Tentacle timecode for synchronized playback or recording in your DAW. Refer to your DAW’s documentation for detailed instructions on how to synchronize using MIDI Timecode. Below is an example setup for Logic Pro X.
Example: Logic Pro X
- Open your Project Settings.
- Navigate to the Synchronization tab.
- Set the Sync Mode to MTC (MIDI Timecode).
- Match the frame rate of your SYNC E to the frame rate of your project.
- Map your DAW timeline’s starting point to the corresponding timecode.
- Close the Project Settings.
- Enable Sync (blue clock icon) in the header toolbar.
- Your timeline should now follow the SYNC E timecode.
