Your Ronin 4D can easily synchronized with any Tentacle SYNC E or ORIGINAL timecode generator, TIMEBAR timecode display or a TRACK E audio recorder. For more information about Tentacle syncing workflow with the Setup App, click here.
Using the Expansion Plate (SDI/TC/XLR)
To feed timecode into your DJI Ronin 4D 4K / 8K the Expansion Plate (SDI/TC/XLR) with a Timecode Input is mandatory. It is mounted to the back of Ronin 4D’s main body and it provides a BNC timecode port.
- Set your Tentacle device and camera to the same frame rate
- Sync Your Tentacle and set your Tentacle's output level to LINE or AUTO
- Connect your Tentacle device to the BNC Timecode input of the Expansion Plate
- Click on the TC icon in your camera's display to get into the extended timecode settings
- Choose:
- Run Mode: Free Run
- Mode: Jam-Synced
- Once synchronized successfully, the EXT icon appears next to the TC displayed
Recommended cables
MIC Port (3.5 mm TRS)
- Set your Tentacle device and camera to the same frame rate
- Set the camera's recording menu>audio and switch the Mic 3.5mm to Sync TC
- Sync your Tentacle
- Set the camera Mic input to LINE or AUTO
- Automatically detects an external timecode signal
- Timecode is embedded as metadata into the file (Update your camera to the latest firmware)
- Once synchronized successfully, the EXT icon appears next to the TC displayed

Using the 3.5 mm Mic input blocks the port for other external microphones, when a Tentacle SYNC E is connected.
