When recording externally with a SONY Alpha 7, please connect a Tentacle SYNC E, ORIGINAL or TRACK E to the 3.5 mm MIC input of the camera and make sure to select the following setting in the menu > Audio Out Timing > Lip Sync
The audio timecode will be sent through the HMDI connection and recorded externally on an additional track together with the video.
If the option "Live" is selected on the SONY Alpha 7, the audio and video on the HDMI output won't be recorded in sync. The reason is that it takes the camera longer to process video images than to process the sound files, which would lead to an echo while monitoring. The "Live" option is used to correct this echo by shifting the audio in relation the to the video. But only the "Lip Sync" option outputs the video and audio in sync.
Note:
- Do to connect any external flash light to the flash sync socket when the TC Input is active. This might damage the camera.
